The Kentucky Fire Commission will be sponsoring an IFSAC
Accredited Certification Firefighter 1 and 2 skills exam, March 17-18, 2012 in the
Ashland vicinity. Testing
will be conducted at the Cannonsburg VFD, 2000 Cannonsburg
Rd in the Cannonsburg community of Boyd County. FF1 candidates need to report at 8:45am Eastern Time on Saturday morning
for a 9am scheduled start of testing. Firefighter 2 testing will begin at 9am Sunday morning. FF1 testing includes stations
for Hazardous Materials Operations testing, as Haz Mat Ops became a pre-requisite for FF1 on September 1st, 2008. Testing requires the use of PPE,
therefore candidates for testing are required to bring full PPE and SCBA. Each test day will expose the candidate to potential

FF1, FF2 and Haz Mat Operations skill sheets and/or a copy of the IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting to use as reference material.
Testing DOES NOT break for lunch, light snacks will be available. Testing is expected to conclude by 3pm each day. Pre-registration,
directions, lodging opportunities and other questions may be directed to the SFRT Area 10 Office, Coordinator Mark
Hammond at 606-326-2431 locally, 888-302-2833 ext 62431 toll-free or by e-mail at mark.hammond@kctcs.edu. Candidates for testing
MUST bring completed FF1, FF2 and Haz Mat Operations Certification Applications
to the testing site. These applications must be signed by the department chief or designee attesting the candidates competency
in the required job-performance objectives. Candidates MUST ALSO BRING
a picture ID such as a drivers license for identification purposes. ID must contain the firefighters date of birth. Applications and skill sheets are available at http://www.kyffcert.com/id12.html. Anyone that intends to test should pre-register for the exam so we may plan for your attendance.
